Negotiations of a Wardrobe

A folding sculpture of calico garments is activated by two performers. The performance is improvised, the sculpture forming different configurations every time. In a game of negotiation between fabric and bodies, the performers fold and unfold, rearranging the piece while the other dresses and undresses, navigating through the mediating interface of the garment. Each individual’s decisions determines what the other can wear, a reminder of how the daily ritual of dressing is as intimate as it is social. Consciously or not, we are ‘dressed’ by the people in our lives.
